Molebridge Practice in Fetcham: Update

28 July 2019

Following successful discussions the application proposing closure of Molebridge Practice in Fetcham, NHS Surrey has been withdrawn. NHS Surrey Downs CCG will be working with the Practice to ensure that they remain sustainable and can continue to serve patients now and for the future.

Both surgery sites, North Leatherhead and Fetcham will continue to operate and there will not be any to change to the services available to patients.

We appreciate this matter may have caused concern to patients and the local community and we hope that they will be reassured that there will not be any changes to this GP Practice. Therefore, the application will no longer be discussed at a meeting of our Primary Care Commissioning Committee in early July.

Surrey Heartlands CCGs are committed to supporting GP Practices and are working to ensure we maintain Primary Care facilities for all patients.

Statement from Rachel Graham, Deputy Director of Contracts (Non Acute & Primary Care) for Guildford and Waverley, North West Surrey and Surrey Downs CCGs:

"The CCG has received an application that proposes changes to the way services are delivered at the Molebridge Practice in Fetcham. The CCG want to make sure people have access to high quality local GP services and are working closely with colleagues at the practice to understand their current issues and challenges.*

"We understand that some local people are concerned about these proposed changes and would like to reassure them that we are working closely with the practice to seek the views of local residents so we can consider these as part of next steps.

"We are also undertaking work to understand the potential impact of any proposed changes, particularly in terms of access and care. This is an important part of the process – so no decisions have been made at this stage.

"Any decision will need to carefully consider local health needs, capacity within other local surgeries, travel and local transport issues, as well as taking into account feedback from patients and the local community.

“If people have views or comments, we would encourage them to complete the survey, available on the practice’s website or pick up a copy of the survey from the reception team at the surgery.

"The CCG’s Primary Care Commissioning Committee will consider this proposal at their next meeting in early July and make a decision on next steps, taking into account all the information available, including feedback we have received from local people."

* Under the proposals surgery opening times would be increased at the Leatherhead site, with GP services to no longer be provided from the Fetcham site.
