Digital Inclusion and Innovation Challenge Pot - applications open

Find out more about the Guildford & Waverley Digital Inclusion & Innovation Challenge Pot

In this increasingly digital world, people who are digitally excluded are at risk of worse access to services and worse health outcomes – sadly this has been escalated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As many physical resources are now moving online, such as shopping, banking and healthcare, there are a number of digital barriers that people may need to overcome, including:

  • access - not everyone has the ability to connect to the internet and go online
  • skills - not everyone has the ability to use the internet and online services
  • confidence - some people fear online crime, lack trust or don’t know where to start online
  • motivation - not everyone sees why using the internet could be relevant and helpful

Our vision is to urgently and collectively tackle the digital divide present in our communities, where across Surrey we know that around 200,000 people are digitally excluded.

To do this, partners across the local health and social care system have set aside funding for voluntary, community and faith sector organisations to apply for funding of up to £5,000 to deliver digital inclusion support and activities to their community. This is specifically for organisations in the Guildford and Waverley areas of Surrey.

These initiatives should help people to feel more confident, empowered and connected when using technology for the benefit of their health and wellbeing whilst addressing local priorities such as health inequalities, reducing social isolation & loneliness, and delivering integrated care services.

Applications for organisations in Guildford and Waverley are now open and are due to close on 10 September 2021 at 17:00. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of September 2021.
