Public advised of return to restricted access in Guildford High Street from 12th April.
The NHS vaccination programme in Guildford continues to make strong progress. In under four months a first vaccine dose has been given to 454,524 (data available up to 21 March) people in the Surrey Heartlands area.
We are now beginning to invite back the first priority groups for the second dose of the vaccine. This is primarily those aged over 80 years of age.
It is really important that you attend an appointment to receive the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The first dose of both the Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine offer good levels of protection, but to get maximum protection everyone will need to get a second dose, so we are urging people to come back when they are contacted or if they have an appointment booked.
Superdrug, located in the historic, cobbled High Street in Guildford, is one of the sites which has been providing a vaccination service to the public with appointments made through the National Booking System or by calling 119. The site is located half way up Guildford’s High Street which is usually a busy shopping area with restricted access to cars during core business hours.
We are working with partners at Surrey County Council and Guildford Borough Council in order to make the access to Superdrug as smooth as possible for Surrey residents and those who may live further afield attending their second vaccinations.
Up until and including Sunday 11th April, a person who has restricted mobility and has a booked vaccine appointment at Superdrug can access the High Street and is permitted to park outside the store while they get their vaccine. The public are reminded that this access is to Superdrug only and Support Officers will be located at the barrier to ensure the High Street is open to those who need to get to their vaccination appointment.
However, from Monday 12th April as lockdown measures are eased and the High Street opens up, anyone who has an appointment at Superdrug will no longer be able to access by car or park outside the store. Access will be restricted between the core hours of 10am-6pm.
Anyone attending for a vaccination appointment will need to use a local car park. There are a number of car parks near to the High Street, details on where the nearest car parks are located can be found at Car parks - Guildford Borough Council
Disabled parking bay details can be accessed at Disabled parking - Guildford Borough Council
If these changes to accessibility give you an issue attending your appointment for your second vaccination at Superdrug, please contact our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccination Enquiry Service so that we can support you to find an alternative venue.
